Fjell air slows everything down.

Gautefall sits high in Telemark — pine forest, heather moors and dark lakes, with the open fjell above the treeline. The seasons are honest here: green and light in summer, copper in autumn, deep snow in winter. Mist hangs in the valleys most mornings until the sun works its way over the ridge.

Days are simple. Coffee on the terrace. A walk onto the plateau, a swim in the lake if you dare. In winter the skis go on at the door. The landscape asks nothing of you — it just carries on, and lets you do the same.

Frequently asked questions

How does check-in work?

Self check-in from 15:00 with a door code we send a few days before arrival, together with directions and a short local guide. No reception, no waiting. Check-out is before 11:00 — leave the key inside and close the door.

Is the cabin warm in winter?

Yes. The cabin has heating and a wood stove, and firewood is stacked by the door. It is open — and warm — all year. Winter on the plateau is one of the best times to be here.

Can I bring my dog?

One calm dog is welcome. Tell us when you book, and keep it on a lead on the fjell — we share the landscape with wildlife and grazing animals.

Is there WiFi and phone coverage?

Mobile coverage works at the cabin, and there is no TV. You can disconnect. You do not have to be disconnected.

What should I bring?

Very little. Linen, towels, coffee and firewood are included. Bring food, footwear for the terrain and clothes for the season. The nearest grocery is a short drive away.

What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation until 14 days before arrival. After that, we charge the first night. The price you see is the price you pay — no fees at checkout.

This cabin is placed in close collaboration with the local landowner. We ask every guest to treat the landscape with the same care that made the stay possible.
